For the yeast starter:

  • 1 чаша топла вода or plant milk, not hot
  • 1 с.л брашно
  • 1/4 чаша cane sugar or coconut sugar
  • 2 packets active dry yeast 14g total

  • 3 3/4 чаши универсално брашно or 50/50 all-purpose and whole wheat
  • 1/3 чаша масло or skip for oil-free
  • 1 ленено яйце 1 tbsp ground flaxseed + 3 tbsp water, set aside 5 min
  • 1 ч.л сол
  • 1/4 чаша cane or coconut sugar

За четкане:

  • Soy milk or olive oil по желание

Инструкции

Step 1: Prepare the Yeast

  • In a bowl, mix warm water with 1 tbsp flour and 1/4 cup sugar. Add yeast and stir. Let sit for 10 minutes until bubbly and foamy.

Step 2: Mix the Dough

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Add the yeast mixture, flax egg, and oil (if using). Mix everything together until a soft dough forms.

Step 3: Knead Briefly

  • Transfer to a floured surface and knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add flour if the dough is too sticky.

  • Divide into 8 equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Flatten slightly and place on a parchment-lined baking tray.

Step 5: Preheat & Bake

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (425°F). Optionally brush buns with soy milk or oil. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
